I went to explore the mystery walls a couple times and I found evidence that they were defensive structures. The evidence is some small depressions in the ground immediately behind the walls, shortly before they reach the rock face which they join to. They are about the size needed for two or three men. Not rectangular but like a rectangle with round ends. I know they were man-made because there are more than one, at intervals. I don't recall the exact number but I found at least two of them. They are not easy to see due to being mostly filled in with organic debris and there being a lot of brush growth behind the wall, though there are no trees right in the depressions themselves. You can still see the depressions, though, and they are parallel to the wall. The only reasonable explanation is that they were intended for people to stand or kneel in and be at or below the level of the top of the wall.
Another interesting thing I observed was a natural version of the walls, back maybe a hundred feet behind the wall itself. The forest floor suddenly drops off because of this natural feature. It's like a rock wall but completely natural and extends for quite some distance parallel to the built wall. It's like two or three feet high, if I recall. I think that's where they got the idea for the wall. So they had the built wall and then this second natural wall as a secondary defensive position to fall back to.
Something else is that across the highway behind the walls there is another area which has interesting stones. There are some large flat stone areas, almost like a parking lot or something because they are so large and flat, and big boulders just sitting out in the middle of them, apparently left by glaciers. This area also provides a good view of the surrounding terrain because it is up quite high.
